1. Prohibition of Substance Abuse
Smoking, consumption of alcohol or use of any narcotic or intoxicating substances is strictly prohibited
within the campus, hostel premises, workshops, vessels, classrooms and all training locations,
including afloat training centres.
Any violation shall be dealt with strictly in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the
Institute and relevant statutory provisions.leave or night out. Where necessary, cadets may be referred for formal medical testing to confirm substance use.
Loss of, damage to or tampering with Institute property will be viewed seriously. This includes, but is not
limited to, fixtures, fittings, instruments, workshop equipment, vessels, furniture, books, periodicals,
walls, windowpanes, vehicles and any other institutional assets.
Any violation shall be addressed in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations of the Institute.
The Institute follows a strict No Ragging Policy. Cadets are strictly prohibited from participating in,
encouraging or abetting any form of ragging. They are also expected to actively discourage and
promptly report any such behavior.
An Anti Ragging Committee and Anti Ragging Squad have been constituted to monitor, prevent and
take action against any reported incidents.
Complaints of ragging, physical assault or use of abusive language will be dealt with severely and may
result in suspension, rustication or expulsion of violators from the training programme. In accordance
with national directives, any act of ragging shall be reported to the local police authorities and the
Institute shall fully cooperate with ensuing investigations and legal proceedings.
The Institute follows a strict Anti Harassment and Anti Discrimination Policy. Harassment or
discrimination based on race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, national origin
or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited.
The Institute is committed to maintaining a learning environment free from such misconduct and to
fostering a positive, respectful and supportive environment for all.
Complaints of harassment and/ or discrimination will be dealt with seriously and appropriate action will
be taken against the violators including suspension, rustication or expulsion from the training
programme.

The Institute has adopted a Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Policy to ensure a safe,
respectful and inclusive environment. A duly constituted Internal Committee is responsible for
addressing and resolving complaints of sexual harassment.
Cadets or staff facing such issues may contact the designated helpline numbers displayed prominently
across the campus. All complaints will be handled by the Internal Committee in accordance with
applicable law.
The Institute’s Mental Health Policy aims to promote the mental well-being of cadets, trainees, faculty, and staff. The policy is aligned with the principles and best practices outlined under the Ummeed Guidelines, the Manodarpan Initiative (Government of India), and the National Suicide Prevention Strategy (NSPS), and is tailored to address the unique stressors associated with maritime education
and training.
Concerns related to mental health and well being may be reported to the Counselling and Internship
Cell, which will address such matters in an appropriate and confidential manner.
The Institute provides structured support mechanisms to ensure timely assistance and effective
redressal of concerns. To facilitate this, a clear procedure has been established for the submission of
concerns, grievances, complaints, or suggestions. Details of the procedure, along with contact
information of the relevant Cells and Committees, are displayed at prominent locations within the
Institute.
Matters relating to mental health and well-being may be reported to the Counselling and Internship
Committee, which includes designated counsellors, through the Institute’s Nodal Officer at 9028759558.
All such concerns shall be addressed in an appropriate and confidential manner.
Cadets are strongly encouraged to report any incidents of harassment, discrimination, ragging,
substance abuse, physical assault, or any other violation of the Code of Conduct. All reports shall be
handled with due confidentiality and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Institute has constituted a Disciplinary Committee to address violations of the Code of Conduct, and all matters requiring disciplinary action shall be referred to and dealt with by the Committee as deemed appropriate.
