Institute of Maritime Studies is an ISO and CIP compliant Maritime Training Institute based in Goa, India. IMS carries out 2 courses, Graduate marine engineering course of 1 year duration since 1997 and the 2-year pre sea course for Diploma engineers since 2002. The future of young engineers who wish to make a career in the marine engineering field is bright if, he is sincere, hardworking and takes interest. The field of marine engineering is like achieving to become an all-rounder. He learns about heat engines, automation, electrical, electronics, hydraulics, refrigeration, pneumatics, motor engg. etc. In no other field can this combination can be achieved. The diploma engineer also gets the opportunity to equate himself with the graduate engineer when they each join the ship as a marine engineer This doesn’t happen ashore in the industries. This is the advantage for the engineers who wish to join the marine engineering diploma course.
Our objectives are to produce good assets to promote Indian Marine Engineers around the world. We facilitate training in various aspects of Marine Engineering. The various areas of training provided to our students are Operation, Maintenance, Supervision of marine machinery and systems, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, environment protection etc. Periodic developments help IMS to improve on its cadet’s performance in the maritime industry.
We aim to motivate students that to excel in all these fields of study. The Institute of Maritime Studies, Goa was first certified as an ISO 9002 compliant Maritime Training Institute in September 1999 by IRQS, Mumbai. This was upgraded on August 2002 as ISO 9001:2000. Presently we are an ISO 9001:2015 Maritime Training Institute.
